Meditations of a Young Lady

The following thoughts were written August 19, 2001, by the Editor at age 17.

Romans 1:1, "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God."

I. "A Servant of Jesus Christ"
Matt. 6:24
A servant does what His master says to do. He's obedient. Too often I just want counseling from God and then in my wisdom do what I think is best for me. God desires to lead us, to guide our every step. We must acknowledge His presence at all times and give ear to what He says and be His true servant. We need to keep Him as our #1 priority. Seek God as early in the day as possible. Read and study God's Word before you read anything else. Being in tune with God requires putting what He says before the other things we would like to do. Listen to the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit and let Him guide your actions. For He is our Maser, and we are His servants.

II. "Called"
II Tim. 1:9
It takes a servant of God to hear the calling of God, and it takes a servant to fulfill the calling of God. God desire to use you for His glory (II Cor. 4:7). "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers..." (I Tim. 4:12). Don't think because you're young that you should sit back and let the "more qualified" do everything. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies those He calls. God's not looking for great talent. He's looking for those who have themselves available for His use. Use what God has given you for His glory, which is why He gave it to you in the first place.
Not only should you know that God has called you to do little things for Christ, He also has called you into the ministry. "Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called." (Eph. 4:1)) Seek God's direction and be submitted to His will.

III. "Separated unto the Gospel of God"
I Cor. 6:19-20; II Cor. 6:16-18, 7:1
"In the world, but not of it," is a well-used, but fitting phrase.
The Lord has purchased us from the world. We are no longer associated with it. Or as Billy Sundae put it, "There is no more a worldly Christian than a holy devil." You're either of the world, or of God - no in between. All those "in between" are going to be lumped in with the world. Rev. 3:16 You act like the world, are you'll be judged with the same judgment as the world. If we love God we'll want to be like Him, love the things He loves and hate the things He hates. We must be renewed in the Spirit of God daily as mentioned in II Cor. 4:16

Separated to God and separated from sin and the world.
Separated to God's ways and separated from our own wisdom.
Separated from our old nature and separated to the new nature in Christ Jesus.
